Dip Dye

How do you all feel about the dip dye trend going on? I made my dip dye shorts two summers ago when I saw a DIY on a fellow bloggers post. They are fairly easy to make.

Here is how I styled them on a night on the town (photo courtesy of Fame Lust

A lot of retail chains out there are selling dip dye items fairly cheap, but if you love being creative and want to make your own custom pair, check out this video I found on You Tube:

If you make something using the dip dye technique, upload it or send me a picture at outskirtsofthecity@gmail.com!

Clutter, clutter, clutter!

If you had read my last post (or two?) you know that my Mom, Aunts, and I had gone through my grandmother's house to clean it out before they put it up for sale. There was so much stuff, you could not imagine. Right then and there I thought, I will NEVER make my family have to go through a whole bunch of CRAP when I am gone. Don't get me wrong, there were some good finds and great memories, but there was also a lot of tension and a few arguments.

I also feel that your home is a reflection of how you feel and how your life is going at the time. I think that my house is showing EXACTLY how I feel-- A MESS! Ever since I have graduated school, I feel like I have been in a constant struggle to find myself; who I am, what I want to do, my aspirations, my dreams. As of right now, I feel like I am in a fog and I can not see what I want. With that and the major clean out at my grandmothers, I have decided to let go and to clean out the house!

Here are a few examples of what we have going on:

Holy crap right!? All this stuff is a mix of Jared's grandmother's items and home improvements/things we have tried for the house that did not quite work out. Here is my plan:

1. Separate things in the basement we are going to keep, throw away, or sell. (Are you visualizing the girls in Sex and the City with their post-its?)

2. Go through room by room and do the same type of sorting as the basement.

3. Have a yard sale!

4. Use the money from the yard sale to better organize the left overs (tubs, shelves).

5. Sit back, relax, and enjoy my new organized home!

Look out for more posts as I de-cluttrer my space! I will live and learn, then hopefully give you great ideas and tips to de-clutter your home!

Unforgettable, that's what you are.

Hello everyone!

I have not posted in over a year! It is incredible. Life has been a whirlwind since I have started my new job. I have been working a lot and I can barely find any time to do anything! My photog, Stephanie, got a new camera so there may be model posts later. For right now, I just want to talk fashion, food, and fun.

This passed October, my beautiful grandmother passed away at age 77. She was like a second mother to me. When I was in 5th grade, she took me in for a year, then again when I was 15. She practically raised me and I give her a lot of credit for the person I am today. She was a wonderful woman and will always be missed.

Even when she was alive, I LOVED going through her old photos. It was the 1950's when she was in her twenties and she had impeccable style. I went through pictures of her for the funeral and found some really wonderful pictures that I would love to share with you all.

My aunt and I found her wedding dress late last night, so I am wonder what kind of condition it is in. I think she is bringing it down sometime today, so if she puts it out I will definitely take some pictures! I love that it is so classic-- I would definitely wear it today. She said almost EVERYTHING she ever owned-- I wish she would have saved her clothes from when she was younger! UGH!!!

Warby Parker Event

Last week, Jordyn and went down to N 3rd Street to check out Warby Parker's new showroom here is Philadelphia! It was a pretty metro scene, everyone rocking their Warby Parker glasses.

When we walked in we instantly gravitated towards the music area, where they had all these head phones where you can listen as you remixed music and such. As you can see, they used Beatles music for this display! As Beatles fans, Jordyn and I were ECSTATIC!

Then, we went for it: the glasses display where you can try on frames that Warby Parker has available. I am on a search for another pair, I currently have the Crosby. I was also on the search for some new prescription sunnies, and spotted these. Did I mention that every pair is only $95 and for every pair you buy, they give a pair to someone in need? Pretty awesome if you ask me! It was so packed that I did not make a definite choice, so I want to go back ASAP!

Hope everyone had an amazing Turkey Day! Now I NEED to get some sleep.. I have work in 4.5 hours! Black Friday, le sigh.
